Elections Ahead

Ontario Election 2025

SCAN!’s chapters can download any of the materials below and use them as they choose.  They may want to gather where there are good crowds with signs, chants, songs, and posters to hand out leaflets to passersby.  They may want to attend all candidates’ meetings.  Perhaps there will be a demonstration near you where you can show solidarity with other social justice groups and – hand out leaflets.

Bulletin/Ontario Clean Air Alliance/”Four Questions for Ontario’s Political Leaders.” Here is an initiative you can support during the election campaign. OCAA plays a major role in Ontario in the fight for ending fossil gas use, investing in renewable energy alternatives, and challenging the Ford government’s plans to expand nuclear energy. Please note, however, that SCAN! supports the 2030 deadline (not 2035) for the phase-out of gas plants (2030 is supported by over 30 Ontario municipalities) and for tripling renewables (2030 is supported by 100 countries at COP 28).

Talking to Candidates. When election candidates come knocking on your door, ask them if they support keeping our power in Canada by expanding our east-west electricity grid. Their answer will tell you a lot about who really has Ontario’s interests at heart. To find out more from the Ontario Clean Air Alliance, click the button.

Leaflet/”Vote Housing”/ACORN. ACORN is a “national organization of low- and moderate-income people.” Climate activists need to continue to make the link with social justice issues like health and housing.
